John and Sarah’s Ring Design
Meet John and Sarah!
Sarah had had showed John a ring that she had found online through Pinterest. When the time came and John wanted to ask Sarah to marry him. John went through Sarah’s Pinterest and found the ring she had shown him. She loved the over all style but wanted to adjust many things. For starters, she did not want an old European cut diamond in the center. She was looking for a modern round brilliant cut diamond. John wanted to look for a diamond with high color and clarity, of which I worked with him to find. After we found the diamond we got to work on the setting. So we worked together and started sketching out what this ring could look like.
After we started sketching approximately what we wanted the engagement to look like. We then took down all the measurements and started working with our Computer Aided Designer (CAD) designer. The CAD designer was able to take out sketch into 3D form on the Rhino software. At this point we were able to see the measurements, and how the ring looked as a whole before 3D printing and then eventually casting.
After the ring design was printed into an actual wax resin ring form, we then proceeded to casting the ring. The ring was being casted into 18kt. yellow gold as you can see below. When the ring is casted it only comes out as it’s rough form. A lot of buffing and polishing goes into the ring the from this point on.
After the ring was casted we then had to work on setting the diamonds we had specifically searched for. The setter had to meticulously use the microscope to hand set each and every diamond.
When John came to pick this ring up, he was speechless! He was so happy with how the ring came out. Below you will see a picture of the ring on Sarah’s hand after she said yes!
